Navigating climate anxiety and curating sustainability within your own life is a life long challenge, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t ways to make it easier - here’s four tips to start you off

Keep a folder of all the reference letters, nice emails, accolades, and projects that you enjoyed doing

Not only is this a great thing to reference for when you need to write a bio, application, or website, it is also super helpful to look back on when the imposter syndrome hits.

Be ruthless about who you follow on social media

While socials can be an awesome tool in sharing your work and making connections with other advocates, it can also (consciously or subconsciously) be the cause for some pretty serious imposter syndrome. There’s different ways of dealing with this: some folks choose to delete it all together, others choose to separate their personal and professional accounts, or to simply only follow people whose content brings positivity and support to their feed (and simply check up on the other folks occasionally!).

Utilize climate anxiety resources

There are so many fantastic organizations and resources available to help you understand and contend with the difficulties of the climate crisis. From books to help you stay inspired to fight climate change to podcast where you can hear about other young people’s climate confessions, there’s a wealth of information out there. Two great places to start are with Force of Nature (check out if they are holding a climate cafe in your area, or host your own!) and the Youth Climate Collaborative.

Remember there is no one way to be an advocate

There are as many ways to advocate for change and for the causes you care about as there are advocates - while other young people making change are often inspirational, it’s equally important to remember that your advocacy path can be whatever you make it!
